Great Falls Voyagers News Release
BILLINGS - The Great Falls Voyagers (5-5) had their way with the Billings Mustangs (7-3) Wednesday night at Dehler Park and took the win 12-6. The heart of the Voyager batting order combined for nine hits and ten RBI to lead the irresistible offensive attack.
Justin Jirschele started off the scoring in the first with a double to right that missed leaving the park by inches. It was the first of four hits for Jirschele, who also scored three runs and drove in four. The Voyagers added three more in the third for a 4-0 lead.
Voyager starter Zach Toney struggled in the third and allowed four runs, three earned, to the Mustangs, and the game went to the fourth tied at four. It was then that the Voyagers blew the game open. Zac Fisher walked with two outs and Adam heisler reached on an error to set up a scoring situation. Singles by Jirschele and Micah Johnson started the scoring before Kyle Robinson blasted a 2-0 curveball to leftfield for his first home run of the season and a 9-4 Voyager lead. Robinson finished the game with four RBI. The Voyagers added two runs in the sixth and another in the ninth while the Mustangs could only add single runs in the sixth and seventh, and the squad coasted to a comfortable win.
The Voyagers continue their three game set with the Mustangs Thursday night at 7 PM. The game features a matchup between Wes Mugarian for the Mustangs and Keegan Linza for the Voyagers. The series concludes on Friday before the Voyagers return to Centene Stadium for a Saturday-Sunday series with the Helena Brewers.
