Forest City Owls News Release
Forest City, NC- The Forest City Owls got some timely offense and timely pitching, beating the Asheboro Copperheads 5-1 on Tuesday night. Bryan Aanderud finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Alex Close and Will Chandler also picked up multi-hit games with an RBI each. The Forest City relievers combined for three and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief to help Ryan Tezak pick up his team-leading fourth win.
After a scoreless first three innings, Asheboro took a 1-0 lead in the 4th when Alex Tomasovich drove in Joe Perez with a sacrifice fly. James Lomangino couldn't hold the lead through the bottom half though, as Aanderud came up with a one-out double to score Close. The Owls took the lead for good when Chandler doubled home Close who walked with two outs in the 5th inning. After a Justin Bryan walk, Aanderud singled through the left side to put Forest City up 3-1.
Jared Hammer led off the top of the 6th inning with a double against Tezak. Perez popped out and Luke Tendler walked. That's when Hunter Privette entered the game. On his first pitch, Chandler threw out Tendler trying to steal second base for the second out of the inning. Privette then struck out pinch-hitter Ford Wilson to end the threat.
Privette stayed on and needed just four pitches for a perfect 7th inning. Jason Driver allowed a one-out double in the 8th inning, but kept the Copperheads off the board. Jake Padgett finished the game with a scoreless 9th inning. Forest City's offense helped by adding three insurance runs (one earned) off Taylor Bratton.
The Owls head back out on the road tomorrow to face the Florence RedWolves. Forest City's next home game will be Thirsty Thursday game at McNair Field against the Martinsville Mustangs.
