July 31, 2007 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

After a lengthy search by General Manager Dale DeGray, he has finally found his man. The Owen Sound Attack is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mark Reeds as their new Head Coach. Mark comes to the Attack organization from the Kalamazoo Wings hockey club of the UHL.

Mark is a proven winner and brings championship experience to the Attack organization. Over the years, Mark has not only developed professional talent, but has started molding the future stars of tomorrow. Before coaching in Kalamazoo, Reeds participated in youth hockey instruction, at all levels, in St. Louis and Peoria where he finished his Professional playing career. Mark has contributed to the development and evaluation of the St. Louis Amateur Blues, where he served as Coaching Director.

As a player, Mark spent eight seasons in the National Hockey League, and 12 overall as a professional. Mark was a 5th round (86th overall) selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Before turning pro, Reeds found success as an amateur, as he was a three-time Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Champion with the Peterborough Petes (1976-79), and a three-time Memorial Cup Finalist, which includes the 1979 Memorial Cup Championship. In his first season as a professional, Reeds was a member of the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, which won the Central Hockey League (CHL) Adams Cup Championship in 1980. From there, Mark played six seasons with the Blues, and two with the Hartford Whalers. Most recently, Mark made two trips to the Colonial Cup final of the UHL as a Head Coach of the Kalamazoo Wings, winning the 2006 Championship in impressive fashion with a .931 winning percentage in the playoffs.

Mark has a wife Mary, and two children Kyle and Kelsey.

A press conference is to be scheduled for later in the week. A date is not yet set.
