
Owen and Carrera Lead Brooklyn Past IronBirds 6-1

Aberdeen, MD- Dylan Owen earned his league-leading ninth win with six strong innings and Ezequiel Carrera had four hits as Brooklyn beat Aberdeen 6-1 on Friday.
Owen (9-1) gave up one unearned run and four hits over six innings for his fourth straight win. He is 4-0 with a 0.41 ERA over his last 22 innings during his personal four game winning streak.
Carrera's four hits were part of a 15 hit offensive outburst for Brooklyn, which managed just one run on six hits against IronBirds pitching on Thursday.
Aberdeen starter Nathan Nery took the loss after winning his previous two outings. Nery (5-3) gave up four runs-only two of which were earned-on 10 hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked none.
Brooklyn scored a run in each of the first two innings and twice in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead heading into the fourth.
The IronBirds responded with a run in the fourth as Joe Nowicki drove in Wally Crancer with an infield single.
Raul Reyes led off the sixth inning with a solo homer to right against Aberdeen reliever Tony Kirbis. The Cyclones added another run in the sixth when Carrera drove in Matt Bouchard with an RBI double to right.
Game Notes- Kirbis and outfielder Kraig Binick made their IronBirds debuts after being promoted from Bluefield on Thursday...Binick made an outstanding diving catch to rob Brandon Kawal of a hit in the fifth inning...The IronBirds host Hudson Valley in game one of a two game series on Saturday.
