Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

FISHKILL, NY (August 31, 2007) - The New York Yankees sent a rehabbing Darrell Rasner to the mound Friday night as Staten Island took on the Hudson Valley Renegades at Dutchess Stadium. ‘Gades second baseman Cody Cipriano greeted his first pitch of the night with a blast deep over the leftfield wall. It would not be enough however, as the Baby Bombers took care of business with an 8-3 win.

Diego Echeverria (3-8) had been solid of late, but the knuckle-balling right-hander exited the game after just three innings. The Yankees got to him early with four runs on seven hits. Second baseman, Damon Sublett went 3-4 with a home run and two RBI. He now leads the NY-Penn league with 52 runs batted in.

Rasner lasted just three innings and surrendered two runs on three hits. He has been recovering from a broken index finger on his pitching hand, which occurred in his outing against the New York Mets on May 19th.

Nick Chigges (3-4) got the win in relief of Rasner with five effective innings of work.

Hudson Valley's Kevin Colon and Jimmy Mayer each had a pair of hits.

The Renegades (31-38) will travel to Aberdeen to play two games over the weekend before returning home on Monday for another pair against the IronBirds.
