Chico Outlaws News Release

CHICO, CALIF - The Chico Outlaws announced today the signing of catcher Justin Tellam and infielder Andre Alvarado.

Tellam comes to the Outlaws as a free agent who last played in 2008 for the independent Windy City Thunderbolts and the Houston Astros single-A affiliate Salem Avalanche. Tellam was originally signed by the Houston Astros organization after being drafted in the 14th round of the 2006 amateur draft. He played his college baseball at UNLV, where he was named All West Coast Conference in 2005, and also at Pepperdine University.

Alvarado (no relation to pitcher Andrew Alvarado) joins the Outlaws after spending the summer in the Golden Baseball League's instructional summer league in Yuma, Arizona. He rejoins the Outlaws after being one of the last players released out of the Outlaws' spring training camp in May. Alvarado played in the Golden Baseball League in 2008 for the Reno Silver Sox, where he hit .274 with 36 RBI's and 18 stolen bases.

Right-handed pitcher Michael Martin and catcher BJ Underkofler were placed on the inactive list in order to make room on the roster for Tellam and Alvarado.

Tickets can be purchased for all remaining Chico Outlaws home games at their downtown office located at 308 Salem Street in Chico, online at ChicoOutlaws.com, or by calling 530-345-3210.
