Chico Outlaws News Release

Chico, CA - The Outlaws fell victim to a masterful pitching performance from St George's Alex Foltz for the first six innings, but rallied for six runs in the seventh and eighth frames to earn a 6-3 win in game four of the seven game series with the Roadrunners.

Mark McLemore got the start for Chico and pitched well, going seven innings. Throwing just 85 pitches (61 strikes), McLemore's only trouble came in the fifth inning when the Roadrunners scored three runs on four hits. After consectutive base hits by Chris Brown and Alex Sumner, catcher Gabe DeMarco hit a two-RBI double was the big hit in the inning and the visitors led 2-0. One batter later, center fielder Cody McMorris hit a sacrifice fly to plate Demarco, giving St George a three-run cushion.

Foltz gave up three runs, one earned, and struck out four hitters in his six and a third innings of work, but earned a no-decision when the St George bullpen let things slip away late in the game.

Allowing just two Outlaws hits through the first six innings, Chico got to Foltz in the seventh when JJ Sherrill singled to lead off the inning. Mikael Jova came up next and hit a fly ball to right field that was dropped by the Roadrunners' Chris Brown for an error, putting two runners on. First baseman John Urick then hit a sinking liner to left that St George's Chris Jaurez dove for and missed, scoring Sherrill and putting Jova and Urick at third and second base. Santo DeLeon then drove in his 64th RBI of the year on a sac fly to center field to plate Jova, cutting the Roadrunner lead to one. One batter later, Foltz was replaced by reliever Lou Bernardi, who surrendered a sac fly off the bat of Del Real that cashed in Urick, tying the game at three each.

Chico added three more runs in the eighth to put the game away. With one out, Sherrill hit his team-leading 15th homer of the year, a solo shot to right field to put the Outlaws up 4-3. The next batter, Jova, doubled and then jogged home courtesy of Urick's two-run monster blast over the right field fence, his ninth moon-shoot of the season, giving the Outlaws a 6-3 lead.

Rusty Jones (2-3) picked up his second win of the year in relief of McLemore, pitching the eighth and ninth innings and facing the minimum six hitters. Jones also struck out two Roadrunners, helping the Outlaws earn their 18th win of the second half (18-22).

Bernardi (0-1) picked up his first loss of the year as St George fell to 8-22 in the second half with the loss.

The Outlaws continue a seven-game series with the St George Roadrunners with a single game on Saturday. Garret Holleran (9-2) gets the start for Chico. First pitch is 6:30 pm.

The game will be broadcast live on the Outlaws Baseball Network and fans can catch all the action with Dan Hawkins starting at 6:15 pm. Watch live on www.justin.tv.com/chicooutlawsbaseball or audio only at www.chicooutlaws.com.
