Rivard, who pitched a complete game shutuout last time out against the Outlaws last week, had another solid performance. Throwing seven innings, Rivard gave up just four hits and one earned before being replaced by Vasquez to start the eighth frame.

Chico scored first in the bottom of the third ining on a Mikael Jova RBI single that scored Blake Gailen, who singled to lead off the frame, putting the Outlaws up 1-0.

The Vipers tied it up a one each in the fifth inning on shortstop Jorge Meija's RBI base hit, one of three hits in the frame by Calgary.

The game stayed that way until the home half of the eighth. Pinch-hitter Mitch Einertson, batting for Holleran, walked to lead off. Gailen then bunted a ball past Vasquez on the mound and in front of second baseman Kevin Price, putting two runners on. Second baseman Bobby Hill then put down another bunt, which Vasquez bobbled for an error, loading up the bases. Jova stepped up to the plate for the second time in the game with the bases loaded and promply rapped a two-RBI double over the head of right fielder Johny Kaplan of the Vipers, giving Chico the lead at 3-1. Santo DeLeon plated a run later in the inning on a sac fly, while Robby Alcombrack's RBI single added the final tally of the night at 5-1.
