HAMILTON - Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced today that Ontario University Athletics (OUA), in conjunction with Tourism Hamilton and MRX Associates, will host the 2007 and 2008 Vanier Cup at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario. The OUA were selected as championship hosts over the Quebec Student Sports Federation (QSSF).

The OUA presented their bid to the CIS selection committee in early June for bid presentations, with the CIS board of directors ratifying the committee's decisions on Monday, June 27. The championship sites have been selected pending the expiration of the 21-day appeal timeline and the successful signing of a championship agreement written by the CIS, which must be signed by both parties within 60 days.

"We are thrilled to get the Vanier Cup back to Hamilton in 2007 and 2008," commented OUA Executive Director, *Ward Dilse*. "The community is really behind this event, and we look forward to continue working with outstanding partners such as Tourism Hamilton and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats."

The OUA has organized every CIS football final since 2001, including the 2004 game held at Hamilton for the first time, and holds the rights to the 2005 final also set to take place at Ivor Wynne Stadium, December 3. The event will venture out of Ontario for the first time in 40 years in 2006 when the University of Saskatchewan plays host to the game. After a one-year stint out west, the Vanier Cup will return to Hamilton November 24, 2007, with the 2008 Vanier Cup set for November 22.

"Hamilton's Tourism and Hospitality Industry are looking forward to welcoming back the 2007 and 2008 Vanier Cup to our city. We also look forward to working once again with Ontario University Athletics in hosting a premier national championship," said *David Adames*, Executive Director of Tourism Hamilton.

Working with the OUA and Tourism Hamilton will be MRX Associates, the management company owned by Bob Young, owner of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. "MRX Associates and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are excited to partner with the OUA and the City of Hamilton to bring this event back to Ivor Wynne Stadium," said *Rob Katz* of MRX Associates and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. "We're confident that the 2007 and 2008 Vanier Cups will be the most successful national football championships ever."

The OUA's competition, the QSSF, also bid for the rights to the 2007 and 2008 Vanier Cups. McGill University would have hosted the 2007 final at Molson Stadium in Montreal, with Laval University taking over in 2008 to stage the game at PEPS Stadium in Quebec City.

Comprised of 18 institutions, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is the governing body of university sport in Ontario. Each year 9,000 student-athletes compete for 40 provincial championships in 24 sports. For more information on Ontario University Athletics, please visit our web site at www.oua.ca .
