Evansville Otters News Release

Evansville, IN - The Evansville Otters (2-2) forced a deciding game five with a 5-2 win on Saturday over the Rockford RiverHawks (2-2). The final game of the series will be on Sunday at 6:05, with Evansville starting right-hander Chris Pillsbury (0-1) against Derek Roper (1-0) who shut down the Otters on just four hits in game one of the series.

Down 2-0 in the fifth, Evansville got the inning going with a Mike Galloway lead off double. Galloway then advanced to third on Grant Rembert's single, putting two on with nobody out. After a ground out to third advanced Rembert a base, Tom Pennino lashed a 2-0 delivery down the right field line for a game tying two run double. After consecutive walks to Kyle Smith and Frank Scott to load the bases, starting pitcher Shaun Parker (0-1) was lifted for Adam Kroft. Kroft's first pitch was bunted by Dale Mueller for a suicide squeeze, scoring Pennino to give the Otters a 3-2 lead.

The team tacked on a pair more in the eighth, as Galloway struck again, hitting a one out double that plated a pair, and stretched out the Otter advantage to 5-2.

Nathan Arnold (1-0) allowed two runs in his five innings of work to get the win. Jake Haggerty did not allow a run in his three plus innings of work. Jake also started the ninth inning, but walked consecutive batters, forcing Evansville to summon closer Mike Bille into the contest. Mike responded with a quick flurry of outs, getting a pop up and a game ending 6-4-3 double play to send the series back to Rockford.

Galloway's three hit night led the Otters cause while Brad Dutton had the only multi hit night for Rockford.
