WINDSOR - Greg Nemisz scored three times to lead the Windsor Spitfires to an 8-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,328 at the WFCU Centre.
Andrei Loktionov added a goal and two assists for the Spitfires, who won their eighth straight to improve to a League-leading 51-6-0-1 on the season. Eric Wellwood and Austin Watson chipped in with a goal and an assist each while Taylor Hall and Adam Henrique rounded out the goal scoring.
Tyler Hostetter and Anthony Luciani scored for the Otters, who dropped to 29-25-2-1 on the season. Erie led 1-0 after one. Windsor carried a 3-2 lead into the third. The Spitfires scored five times in the final 9:22 of the third to win going away.
The Spitfires out shot the Otters 53-23 in the game as Shane Owen took the loss. The three stars of the game were all from Windsor. Nemisz was the first, Loktionov the second and Henrique the third.
The Otters continue their road trip tomorrow (Friday) night in Saginaw against the Spirit at 7:11 p.m. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 6:55 p.m.
The next Otters home game takes place Saturday, February 28th when the Ottawa 67's visit the Tullio Arena for a 7 p.m. start presented by EMTA. The first 1,000 fans into the game will receive a Ryan O'Reilly lithograph penned by Kevin-John Jobczynski. Sunday, March 1st it the Otters and the Plymouth Whalers in a special 4:30 p.m. start at the Tullio Arena presented by Allen Insurance. The first 500 children (12 and under) into the game receive an Otters Autograph Book and a meet and greet with the players will follow the game.
