Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Barrie, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors jumpstarted another weekend road trip, as they visited the Barrie Colts tonight. While the Majors started off strong by producing an early two-goal lead, the Colts unfortunately came back midway through the contest and downed the visitors, 4-2. As a result of the loss, Mississauga's record shifts to 31-24-1-2 on the season.
The Majors outshot the Colts 12-5 in the 1st period, and did a good job of holding them off the board. Devanté Smith-Pelly got the lone goal for Mississauga with only 5 seconds left in the frame with help from David Corrente to make it 1-0.
Kale Kerbashian gave the Majors a 2-0 lead when he connected 9:00 into the 2nd period while Mike Pelech and Jordan Mayer provided the assists. However, Barrie answered with a couple of goals to knot the contest as Alex Hutchings and Ryan Gottschalk each scored at 11:25 (power-play) and at 14:10, respectively. The assists went to Ryan O'Connor, Gottschalk, Hutchings and Stefan Della Rovere. Then, the Colts were up 3-2 with Della Rovere's tally coming at 18:47. Dalton Prout was credited with the sole assist.
Unfortunately, the Majors could not spark a comeback in the 3rd period as Barrie's Andrew Clouthier wired the puck into an empty-net with 8 seconds left in the frame, off of a feed from Kyle Clifford, to put the game away.
Chris Carrozzi started in net and turned aside 30 shots for the Majors, while Peter Di Salvo made 34 saves for the Colts. Mississauga went 1 for 5 on the power-play, while Barrie finished 1 for 8 on the night. The game's three stars were Della Rovere (1st), Di Salvo (2nd) and Gottschalk (3rd).
The Majors blow-out sale continues, where every Majors replica jersey is priced at only $75.00 (PST and GST included). For more details, visit the Majors official merchandise store, the Maniac Shack, or call the Majors office at 905-502-7788.
