Evansville Otters News Release

Cole Hilt hit a three-run homer and Ben Foster pitched eight innings giving up just two unearned runs as the Evansville Otters beat the Windy City ThunderBolts 8-3.

The Otters got out in front with a run in the first innings for the fifth straight game as Steve Martin doubled down the line to lead things off. After a Denver Stuckey groundout moved Martin to third, Juan Downing drove him home for a 1-0 Otters lead.

Windy City took their first lead of the series in the second with a pair of runs to make it 2-1. The lead was short-lived however, as with a pair of runners on and two outs in the bottom of the third, Cole Hilt hit his team leading fifth homer of the season to give the Otters a 4-2 lead.

Ben Foster then set the next several ThunderBolts down in order to keep the momentum on the Otters side and establish his control in the game. Evansville put the game out of reach with three in the seventh inning, keyed by a double by Brian Mckenna.

The series wraps up tomorrow with Robby Read (1-0) taking the hill for Evansville against Justin Roelle (2-1) for the ThunderBolts. The game will also be a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday as 10 oz draft beers and 12 oz soft drinks are just $1.
