Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, suffered a tough loss Wednesday night at Falconi Field in front of 3,022 fans. The Wild Things lost their second straight game at home to the Kalamazoo Kings, dropping their record to 11-9.
The Kings started off the scoring in the fourth inning by tallying two runs. They continued their success by scoring two runs in each of the following two innings as well, to lead the Wild Things 6-0 by the end of sixth inning. The Wild Things remained quiet until the bottom of the seventh inning when they incited their improbable comeback. The Wild Things were relentless with their keen eyes up at the plate. Three walks prompted the Wild Things comeback. Short-stop, David Reaver, knocked in two runs with his double in the seventh inning. Immediately following, Andy Hudack singled to drive in another run. A few batters later, Chris Carter was walked to bring in Bruce Baldwin and even the score at six.
Both teams managed to score one run in their respective part of the eighth inning to keep the score even at eight. The ninth inning proved uneventful for both teams as no runs were scored and extra-innings were forced.
The Kings scored the eventual winning run in the top of the tenth inning when Darryl Blaze reached first on an error, which brought in the eventual winning run. The Wild Things failed to muster yet another comeback in the bottom of the tenth and dropped the game 8-7 to the visiting Kings.
The final game in the series between the Wild Things and the Kings will take place Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Falconi Field. Thursday night's game will feature Thirst-day one dollar soda and drafts for all fans.
