
Otters Re-Sign Pitcher Matt Zielinski

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters are bringing back one of their top pitchers with the re- signing of left-hander Matt Zielinski.
The Pennsylvania native has a career 3.77 earned run average and has pitched for the Otters in each of the last two seasons. Zielinski has given up less than one hit per inning pitched and has only walked 45 batters in a span of 155 career innings pitched.
"Matt was a very consistent starter for us last year, giving us a lot of quality starts and eating a lot of innings," said Otters manager Andy McCauley . "We are hoping he can build in the quality performances he gave us the last two seasons."
Zielinski was 7-7 last year for the Otters, maintaining a 3.96 earned run average. He is very anxious to begin his third season of professional baseball this summer.
"I'm excited to return with the Otters for another season," Zielinski said. "We have a great group of guys coming back and we are looking to get a lot of wins for the great fans."
The Otters will be having an exhibition game that benefits Jacob's Village on Friday, May 10against the Southern Illinois Miners . First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT at historic Bosse Field . Tickets are $4 for general admission or $6 for reserve seats. All ticket proceeds will go to local charity Jacob's Village.
The Evansville Otters season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters . The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders at Historic Bosse Field. Season tickets are already on sale and can be ordered by calling the Evansville Otters front office at (812) 435-8686.
