Evansville Otters News Release

The Evansville Otters and fourth-year manager Andy McCauley agreed to terms for the upcoming 2014 season on Tuesday morning.

McCauley guided the Otters (51-45) this summer to their highest regular season win total since 2005, and he also holds the third most managerial victories in franchise history (154).

"The club has shown steady progress under Andy's leadership," said Otters' owner Bill Bussing. "We have an unusually strong nucleus of returning players whom we believe will allow us to compete for the Frontier League championship in 2014."

McCauley joined Evansville as a manager mid-way through the 2010 season. The Otters have increased their win total each year under McCauley, from 39 in his first full season at the helm to 51 victories this past summer.

"I am very pleased and excited to be returning to Evansville for another year," said McCauley. "I greatly appreciate the confidence that Mr. Bussing has shown in me. The dedication of the front office has made Evansville a great place for players to play and also return," added McCauley. "Now we have to clear the final two hurdles: making the playoffs and winning a championship."

McCauley has steered eight of the 16 independent teams he has managed to the playoffs, including two league championships (1999 London Werewolves, 2008 Kansas City T-Bones). McCauley was also named manager of the year in the Frontier League in 1999 (London) and the Northern League in 2004 (Schaumburg Flyers).

The Evansville Otters will begin their 20th season of baseball, the most in Frontier League history, in 2014. Opening day is scheduled for May 16, 2014.
