Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

The Traverse City Beach Bums have traded infielder Chase Burch to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the American Association for a player to be named later and other considerations. Burch spent the past four seasons with Traverse City, becoming the all-time leader in a handful of offensive categories.

The 27-year-old led the Beach Bums with home runs and RBI in 2013, going deep 15 times and driving in 66 runs. The slugging first baseman also went on a surge in the playoffs, swinging a team leading .438 with four home runs and six RBI. Burch also added five walks in the postseason.

The Montgomery, Alabama native returns to the same league he began his professional career. Burch broke into pro ball in 2009 playing in 90 games for the Penascola Pelicans. He hit a career best .341 with nine homeruns and 65 RBI. One year later Chase joined the Beach Bums for his most productive year professionally. Burch slugged 19 homers in 2010 with 88 runs batted in. He went on to become a powerful bat in the Traverse City lineup the next four years, becoming the Beach Bums all-time leader in games played (370), at-bats (1319), runs scored (243), home runs (68), and RBI (285).

The Beach Bums are looking ahead to the 2014 season after such a strong regular and playoff season this year. Season tickets for the 2014 season are now on sale at just $6 a ticket and includes a 2014 parking pass. Fans have already begun to reserve their seats since this special season ticket price expires November 1, 2013. For more information call 231-943-0100 for all the details.
