
Otters Make a Few More Moves, Start Spring Training

(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) - The Evansville Otters signed first baseman Nick Farnsworth, catcher Lucas Shaw, and left handed pitcher Matt Crim yesterday.
Farnsworth and Shaw both were selected by Evansville in the Frontier League Draft earlier this week.
Nick was the third overall selection and joins the Otters from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization where he was previously a 9th round pick. Shaw was selected in the second round of the Frontier League Draft and comes to the team from the Arizona Winter League. He is a former college teammate of current Otter infielder Kevin Lovelace.
Crim becomes the newest Otter after signing on May 3rd . He is a left handed pitcher from South Carolina who reached AA with the Atlanta Braves last season. Crim was drafted in the 21st round of the MLB Draft in 2009 and adds another pitching weapon for the Evansville Otters.
"Matt started this spring with Somserset of the tlantic League and did well there," said Otters Director of Player Personnel Kevin Cope. "He should be able to come in and be a quality left handed starting pitcher for us."
Evansville also placed infielder Danny Hernandez on the suspended list as of yesterday.
After holding their first practice on Friday, the Otters will play the Southern Illinois Miners on Saturday.
First pitch for the exhibition game is 7:05 pm. at Brooks Stadium in Paducah, Kentucky.
Tickets are now on sale for the 8th annual exhibition game benefitting Jacob's Village. The game will be played on Friday, May 11 at Historic Bosse Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm. General admission price is $4.00 as reserved seats will be selling for $6.00.
Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.Be sure to follow the Evansville Otters on twitter and like us on Facebook.
