Erie, Pa. - A four goal second period by the Niagara IceDogs was the catalyst for the seventh straight loss suffered by the Erie Otters, as they lost 6-4 to the IceDogs Wednesday night at Tullio Arena.

The IceDogs scored 75 seconds into the contest courtesy of Andrew Agozzino, but the Otters rebounded to score three unanswered during the remainder of the period. Brett Cook started the offense for Erie as he fired a wrist shot from the slot through Mark Visentin for his second goal of the year four minutes and four seconds into the first.

Sondre Olden continued his impressive season as he beat the Niagara defense by using his speed and depositing a backhander over the glove of Visentin for his fifth goal of the season with five minutes and 31 seconds left in the period.

Olden then won a faceoff to the left of Visentin that allowed Stephen Harper to fire a wrist shot from the slot for his second goal of the season with three minutes and 14 seconds to go in the first.

Unfortunately for Erie, the IceDogs poured it on during the second period with four goals, including a pair of shorthanded goals ten seconds apart by Freddie Hamilton and Ryan Strome that broke a 3-3 tie and added on to their new-found lead.

A shorthanded goal by Brett Thompson briefly put the Otters within one early in the third period, but it was neutralized by a power play goal from Dougie Hamilton less than a minute later.

Olden had a goal and an assist while Connor Brown dished out two assists for Erie in the loss. The IceDogs outshot the Otters, 32-18.

The Otters begin a home-and-home Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Kitchener against the Rangers. Fans can listen to the game online at ottershockey.com(courtesy of the James H. Cross Company) or on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan.
