Otters Falter Down the Stretch

Evansville Otters News Release

July 21, 2008, Crestwood, Ill. - Evansville mustered just five hits tonight while scoring just three runs, but it was still enough to win, until a shortened bullpen couldn't hold the lead in the seventh and eight and the Otters would fall 4-3 to Windy City. Evansville left runners at the corners in the sixth and seventh and after miss-executing defensively on a bunt in the bottom of the seventh, saw their lead dwindle to one run.

A shortened bullpen undoubtedly required Evansville to stick with left-handed reliever Tristan Facer (0-1) in the eighth. Facer allowed the tying run to score on an RBI double from All-Star Josh Horn, but got the groundball he needed to get out of the inning, only to have the throw skip in the dirt setting up an Amos Ramon RBI double to plate the game-winning unearned run.

Evansville and Windy City are back at it tomorrow at 7:05 CDT with Ricky Bauer taking the mound for the Otters against Ted Ratliff for the Thunderbolts.
