
Grizz drop game one to Rockford

SAUGET, IL-Tony Gonzalez drove in all four runs Monday night as visiting Rockford defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 4-1 in front of 2,802 at GCS Ballpark.
Gonzalez hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give the RiverHawks (27-28) a 2-0 lead. The home run came off Grizzlies' starter Erik Dessau and was the 13th he has allowed this season. That total leads the Frontier League.
The Grizzlies (29-26) got their only run of the night in the fifth inning. Alex Kerins walked with two out and Brandon Scott singled. Robbie Minor followed with an RBI single up the middle to make it 2-1.
Dessau (4-5) settled in to pitch seven innings. He allowed only two runs on seven hits. He struck out three.
In the top of the eighth Gonzalez laced a two-out, two-run double to right off Grizzlies reliever Eric Ridener to put Rockford up 4-1.
The Grizzlies and âHawks continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark.
