Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters (4-11-1-0) dropped their ninth game in 10 as the Oshawa Generals defeated the Otters, 4-2, Saturday night at Tullio Arena.

Andy Andreoff scored the lone goal of the first period for the Generals as he caught Otters goaltender Ramis Sadikov out of position and ricocheted a shot of the skate of Sadikov to put Oshawa ahead 1:49 into the game.

Greg McKegg missed a penalty shot during the period which could have tied the game in the first period, but work in the second resulted in the equalizer at 10:40 when Shawn Szydlowski ripped a wrist shot from the right circle over the right shoulder of Kevin Bailie. The goal was Szydlowski's 7th of the season.

The Generals took the lead 1:05 later on Andreoff's second of the game, but the Otters tied the game for the second time at 14:50 as Mac McDonnell poked the puck past the goal line after a Derek Holden shot for his third goal of the season. The Generals again took the lead with 1:07 left in the third as Jeff Brown converted on a one-timer at the top of the crease to make it 3-2 going into the third.

The goal would stand up as the Otters were unable to convert on a long two-man advantage and another power play late in the third period, with Alain Berger adding an empty netter to seal the 4-2 win for Oshawa.

The Otters return to action at Tullio Arena Friday night against the Owen Sound Attack at 7:00 p.m. It's a $5 Friday, as high school and college students can get into the game for $5.00 if they show their student ID. Tickets are available through the Tullio Arena Box Office, online at ottershockey.com, Erie-area Ticketmaster locations or by calling 452-4857.
