Based on the rains that fell in the tri-state Tuesday and Wednesday, the Evansville Otters have decided to make Thursday night's doubleheader "sponge night". Anyone who comes to the ballpark with a sponge will get in for free.

"We need a way to sop up the leftover water, so we figured our fans could help us out by bringing sponges," said Steve Tahsler, Otters' GM. "So anyone who comes to the ballpark with any kind of sponge will get in for free."

Andrew Aldenderfer, Otters Director of Ticket Operations came up with the idea along with trainer Jed Arseneau, "We thought it would be a fun idea to help get fans involved in the cleanup effort." Arseneau said.

Thursday is also Keep Evansville Beautiful Grow Your Own Bat Night at Bosse Field. Fans in attendance will receive a baby tree that, if treated right, in time can become your own bat.
