Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters are proud to announce that catcher/infielder Dan Killian signed with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Including Killian's signing, the Evansville Otters have promoted more than 50 players to affiliated baseball and that remains one of the top goals for the organization.

"Moving players to affiliated baseball is the goal of these players, the coaching staff, the front office, and the ownership of Bill Bussing," said Otters manager Andy McCauley . "We are happy for Dan and hope to advance more players to affiliated baseball this season."

Dan Killian began his career as the 7th round selection of the Washington Nationals in the 2008 MLB Draft. Killian has also played for the San Diego Padres organization, making the Detroit Tigers his third affiliated team. Dan Killian has played parts of two seasons with the Evansville Otters, where he was reunited with his brother Billy Killian, who advanced to the Minnesota Twins organization last year. This is the first time a set of brothers have both been promoted from the Otters to affiliated baseball.

"We were looking forward to seeing a healthy Dan Killian with the Otters this year," added McCauley, "but we wish Dan the best of luck and will certainly be following his progress this season."

Fifth Third Opening Night for the Evansville Otters is Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters. First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT. The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders at Historic Bosse Field. Season tickets are already on sale and can be ordered by calling the Evansville Otters front office at (812) 435-8686. Businesses interested in participating with the Otters through advertising or group outings, should email ottersbb@evansville.net.
