Otters Beat Richmond, 5-3 in 12 innings

Richmond, IN – The Otters (29-15) beat the Richmond Roosters (25-20) 5 to 3 in 12 innings on Friday night. The Otters held a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning when a pinch-hit, leadoff homerun by Phil Willingham for the Roosters tied the game at 3.

Richmond had a chance to win the game in both the ninth and tenth innings when they got runners on first and second with one out before Amad Stephens worked out of the jams.

The Otters had a chance of their own in the 11th when they loaded the bases with one out. However, Evansville was unable to convert and the game went to the 12th. It was in that inning when the Otters broke through. Once again, the Otters loaded the bases with one out. O. J. Garza grounded the ball to shortstop, Jose Sandoval, JR. who committed his second error of the game, scoring a run to give Evansville a 4-3 lead. Auntwan Riggins then walked to force in a run and the Otters had 5-3 lead. Logan Good pitched a perfect 12th, striking out the last batter for the win and his first professional save.

The Otters return home for a three game series against the second place Chillicothe Paints Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The homestand continues on Sunday with a game at 6:05 p.m. The Otters will wrap up the first half of the season ON Monday night with a 7:05 contest.
