
McWatters Leads Kings to Shutout Win

On Saturday, July 12, the Kalamzoo Kings continued their six game homestead and began the first of three against the Florence Freedom.
David McWatters got the nod for the Kings and was phenomenal through eight. McWatters allowed no runs, only three hits, one walk and struck out eight.
The Kings got the only offense they needed in the third as Kevin Wilson was brought home on a balk and Tino Burgos scored on a error from Florence's third baseman Macellaro. More offense was provided in the seventh as pinch hitter Phil Archer had a two run double. The Kings final run came in the eighth as Chris Carter provided an RBI single. Florence struggled as they had no offense. Right-hander Greg Wiltshire was brought in during the ninth as he earned his eighth save of the season. The Kings earned their sixth shutout of the year and now lead the Frontier League in shutouts.
