Ottawa Blackjacks Announce 2022 CEBL Season Schedule

February 3, 2022 - Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)
Ottawa BlackJacks News Release

The Ottawa BlackJacks in collaboration with the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced its 2022 regular season schedule Thursday, consisting of 20 games from May 25 to August 1.

With three new franchises added for the 2022 season (Montreal, Newfoundland and Scarborough) the CEBL became the largest professional sports league in Canada and expanded their schedule from a 14-game regular season in 2021 to a 20-game campaign in 2022.

In addition to 10 regular season home games, three more than last year, the BlackJacks will be hosting the 2022 CEBL Championship Weekend from August 10-14, 2022, with games taking place in the Arena at TD Place. The team with the best regular season record will join host Ottawa with automatic berths into the four-team Championship Weekend.

The BlackJacks tipoff their third campaign, second on home court, at the Arena at TD Place on May 25 against the Fraser Valley Bandits, followed by a road trip to Ottawa's closest geographical opponents and 2022 CEBL expansion franchise, the Montreal Alliance.

Ottawa will then play a pair of games against the other two new CEBL teams, at home on Thursday, June 2 against the Scarborough Shooting Stars and on the road Sunday, June 5 against the Newfoundland Growlers.

The only team to beat the Edmonton Stingers in 2021, the BlackJacks will welcome the defending CEBL champions back to the nation's capital on Thursday, June 23.

The rematch of the 2021 CEBL quarter-final will take place on July 2, as the BlackJacks will travel to Hamilton to take on the Honey Badgers.

After a pair of back-to-back home games, Ottawa will then embark on their longest road trip of the season July 12-17 when they will travel out West to visit Edmonton, Saskatchewan and Fraser Valley.

Coming back from a single trip to Edmonton on July 27, the BlackJacks will close their regular season Monday, August 1, playing host to the Montreal Alliance and preparing for the CEBL Championship Weekend semifinal on August 12.
