Ottawa 67's News Release
Our Ottawa 67's carried the play last night as they pulled out a 7-4 win over the Brampton Battalion. Brampton opened the scoring with two quick goals to take the lead but our boys fought back scoring before the end of the first period. Our Ottawa 67's came out flying in the third period scoring early to take the lead, for good. Ryan Martindale scored late in the third, sealing the win for our team!
Last night was the annual fundraising game for Special Olympics Ontario. The evening began with a ceremonial puck drop. President and CEO of Special Olympics Ontario Glen MacDonell performed the puck drop with the help of Ottawa Special Olympic figure skater Scott McEwen.
The first intermission was lots of fun as it featured the Nepean Wildcats novice girls' hockey team taking over the ice for a quick game. The goalies played great and kept the score close. However, there were no losers last night, as everyone came out a winner.
Thanks for coming out girls!
During the second intermission, fans welcomed to the ice a few Ottawa Special Olympics figure skaters. The group of skaters included; Jamie McKnight, Brianna Hickman, James Arnold, Tim Parisien, Cheryl Grenon, Analisa Kiskis, Richard Ralph, Emma Hitsman, Massimo Caporale, Nicole Paquin, Peter Verbruggen, and Kyle Mayhew. They entertained us all with their energy and effort. Great job guys
Monday we take on the Peterborough Petes. We expect to see a lot of students in the stands, from where we'll be writing.
