Ottawa 67's News Release
The Ottawa 67's have acquired Belle River, ON native Jake Fischer from the Barrie Colts in exchange for a pair of draft picks. Ottawa sends its 9th Round pick in 2007 to the Colts as well as Barrie's 13th Round pick in 2007 which the 67's had acquired in a previous transaction.
Fischer is a big, young goaltender who has yet to receive an opportunity to flourish in the OHL. At 17 year old and listed at 6.03 and 185 lbs, Fischer will join the Ottawa 67's on Tuesday, November 28 in Kingston as the 67's square off against the Frontenacs. After being acquired by the Colts in September 2006, Fischer has appeared in only one game this season for the Colts and played only 15 games the previous season with the Windsor Spitfires.
Fischer was originally a 5th Round Pick (100 overall) of the Windsor Spitfires in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection and will not turn 18 years of age until February 15, 2007.
