Odessa Jackalopes News Release

FAIRBANKS, AK - After giving up a two goal lead with less than two minutes to play in regulation, the Odessa Jackalopes rallied through a scoreless overtime period and a six-round shootout to beat the defending Robertson Cup Champion Fairbanks Ice Dogs 5-4 for their third consecutive win on Friday night at Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska. With the win, the Jackalopes imrove to 3-3-2 on the season and sit alone in fourth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.

In the first game of a four-game, ten-day road trip, the Jacks took an early lead on Jalen Krogman's first goal of the season at 8:49 of the opening frame. After a 2-2 second period that featured goals from the Jacks' Andrew Palushaj and Willie Faust, Odessa took a 3-2 lead into the third period. After a long drought to start the final period of play, Jacks forward TJ Sennott scored what appeared to be an insurance goal at 18:28 of the third to make it 4-2. The Ice Dogs rallied back however with two goals in the final 1:32 of regulation to force overtime.

After a scoreless extra session, the Jackalopes prevailed in a six-round shootout thanks to four saves from Odessa netminder Connor Hellebuyck and the decisive goal from Alex Ostrowski to emerge victorious 5-4. Hellebuyck stopped 45 of the 49 shots he faced while the Jacks had just 26 shots on goal, and on special teams, the Jackalopes were 1/5 on the power play and 5/6 on the penalty kill.

The Jackalopes will tangle once more with the Ice Dogs on Saturday night in Fairbanks with the opening faceoff scheduled for 10:30 pm central.
