Frederick Keys News Release
For a second consecutive evening the Keys used an early inning rally to fuel a victory as Frederick held on in the series opener in Kinston for a 4-2 win. Starter Ryan O'Shea (3-1) continued his impressive season allowing just one run for a fifth time in his six starts to pick up the victory.
The Keys got their offense going in one swift barrage in the third inning. LF Steve Bumbry lined a ball right back at Kinston pitcher Clayton Cook taking the glove right off of his hand. The infield single would be the first of five consecutive Keys hits.
Up next CF Miguel Abreu singled deep in the hole at short. That set the table for Mr. RBI Buck Britton who drove home two more runs with a hard ground ball double down the right-field line. Britton now has seven-RBI's in his last two games and 20 in 20 games played this season.
Two batter later, 1B Tyler Kolodny would finish the rally with a RBI-single to center field. The Keys would lead for the rest of the game.
Kinston clawed within one run in the eighth inning on a solo home run (2) by SS Casey Frawley. But Keys 3B Dale Mollenhauer would steal third base in the ninth inning and score when the errant throw ricocheted off of him to put the Keys atop 4-2.
The Keys have now won nine of ten games and have a Carolina League's best 9-3 record in the month of May.
Frederick is right back at it on Saturday, May 14th at Grainger Stadium with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. RHP Oliver Drake will be on the hill for the Keys with coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on 1450-AM The Source.
The Keys will return home on Monday, May 16th for Bark in the Park Night presented by Crossroads Animal Referral and Emergency in Frederick. Former Key and current Baltimore Orioles starter Brian Matusz will make the start against the Potomac Nationals.
