
Oseguera Shuts Down Flock

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 25, 2012) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 8-4 on Friday night in the second game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.
The Bluefish jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Ducks starter Gustavo Chacin with a RBI double by Prentice Redman and a RBI single by Luis Lopez in the first. Bridgeport added another RBI single from Lopez in the third, giving the 'Fish a 3-0 advantage.
Three runs in the fifth for the visitors, highlighted by a two-run single from Ramon Vazquez, and two more in the seventh on a sac fly and a fielder's choice stretched the lead to eight. The Ducks cut the deficit in half in the bottom half of the eighth when Wilberto Ortiz hit a RBI single, and Brandon Sing hit a three-run homer to left, but it was all the offense the Ducks muster.
Oseguera (2-2) picked up the win, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while striking out seven. Chacin (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on 10 hits and two walks in four and two-thirds innings of work.
Ray Navarrete paced the offense for the Flock with two hits, while Sing drove in three.
The Ferry Cup Series rolls on at Bethpage Ballpark on Saturday night, as the Ducks continue their four-game set against the Bluefish. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Nicolock. In addition, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for discounts at Dick's Sporting Goods as fans exit the ballpark following the fireworks show. Righty Bob Zimmermann will get the start for the Ducks against Bridgeport right-hander Raymar Diaz.

Duck Tales: With a single, Ray Navarrete has now reached base safely in his last 12 games. The seven-year Ducks has driven in 14 runs during that span and has collected hits in 10 of those 12 games.Brandon Sing added another home run, giving him a team leading seven homers. He also picked up his second three-RBI game, one shy of the team lead. Sing hit 23 home runs in his only year in the Atlantic League with the Bridgeport Bluefish in 2009.Jared Lansford made his debut with the Ducks, tossing one and one-third innings of scoreless baseball. Lansford was re-signed by the Ducks on Monday, while his brother Josh joined Long Island on Friday.
