York Revolution News Release

Ryan Feierabend went the distance in a marvelous effort, firing a complete game gem as the York Revolution defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-2 in front of 4,697 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday evening. The Revs have won back-to-back games and will aim to clinch a series win and match their longest winning streak of the season on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.

Feierabend (3-1) allowed just six hits, two of which were infield hits. Only one of the two runs allowed was earned, while the lefty walked just one and struck out eight. He threw 108 pitches, 73 of which were strikes, and retired the final six batters he faced. He worked perfect frames in the first, third, sixth, and ninth innings.

For Feierabend, it was the fourth complete game of his pro career and first since 2010 at Triple-A Tacoma. It was his first nine-inning complete game since 2007 with Tacoma. It was also just the second complete game effort in the Atlantic League so far during the 2012 season.

The Revs struck first in the third inning as Ramon Castro launched an RBI single off the Arch Nemesis in left field, spotting York a 1-0 lead.

Southern Maryland tied it on an RBI double to right-center by Chin-Lung Hu in the fourth, but that was the only earned run allowed by Feierabend on the night.

The Revs came right back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good. With two outs, Danny Gonzalez singled to left field to keep the inning alive, and Travis Scott cashed in with a two-run triple to right field. Brandon Haveman followed with an RBI single up the middle on the very next pitch, as the Revs scored three two-out runs in the fourth for the second consecutive night.

Southern Maryland's only other threat came in the eighth when Jeremy Owens led off with a single, and Mike Daniel laid down a bunt hit. Scott's throw to first sailed high allowing Owens to take third, as the Crabs had runners at the corners with no outs, but Feierabend allowed only one run to score on a fielder's choice by David Espinosa. The lefty came back to record the final two outs, and finished his masterpiece with a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two more and ending it with a fly ball to right off the bat of Richard Mercado.

Notes: Feierabend has increased his innings totals in every start this season, having gone eight innings in his previous start... he is now 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA over his last five starts... with one walk on the night, he has now walked only four total in six starts on the season... it was his fourth straight quality start... Feierabend struck out Matt Padgett and Richard Giannotti three times each... his eight strikeouts tied a season-high for a Revs pitcher... Revs pitchers own a 3.38 ERA over their last six games, while starters have a 3.26 ERA over their last eight outings... it marked the sixth time in the last seven games that Revs starters have gone at least five innings... the win was the 198th in the history of Sovereign Bank Stadium... York's Chris Cody (1-4, 7.44) will face Southern Maryland's Nick Green (2-1, 2.73) in Saturday's game with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. Postgame Fireworks presented by the United States Coast Guard will follow the game.
