Ortio Assigned & Brossoit Recalled

Abbotsford Heat News Release


Abbotsford, BC - Abbotsford Heat General Manager Jay Feaster announced today that goaltender Joni Ortio has been assigned to the Alaska Aces, the Heat's developmental affiliate in the ECHL, and goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been recalled from Alaska. Ortio has yet to appear in a game for the Heat this season. Brossoit was assigned to Alaska on October 2nd, 2013. He will accompany the Heat on their upcoming road trip this weekend.

Ortio, 22, is a native of Turku, Finland and has appeared in ten games with the Heat in his career and has a record of 1-4-0-0.

Brossoit, 20, is a native of Surrey, BC and played in one pre-season game with Alaska on October 8th and made 22 saves against Cincinnati Cylcones.

The Heat head out on the road this week to face the Oklahoma City Barons (AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers) on October 18th and 19th, followed by a visit to the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) on October 20th. The next Heat home games are Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th against the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche). Friday, October 25th is Heat magnetic schedule giveaway night, with the first 2,500 fans getting a free Abbotsford Heat magnetic schedule. Lake Erie also features three players from the Greater Vancouver area: Stefan Elliot(North Vancouver), David van deR Gulik(Abbotsford), and Mark Oliver (Burnaby).
