
Minnesota Wild Recalls Darcy Kuemper

Des Moines, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Monday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Kuemper, 23 (5/5/90), made 28 saves Sunday as Iowa suffered a 4-2 home loss to Oklahoma City. He has not appeared in a regular season game for Minnesota this season. Kuemper played in two preseason contests with the Wild and stopped all 18 shots faced in 47:12 of action.
He went 1-2-0 with a 2.08 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .916 save percentage (SV%) in six regular season games (three starts) with Minnesota last season. He made his NHL debut Feb. 12 at Vancouver and stopped 29-of-31 shots in a 3-2 win against Detroit on Feb. 17 to record his first career NHL victory. Kuemper appeared in two NHL playoff games in relief and stopped 29-of-33 shots faced for a 3.29 GAA and a .879 SV%. He went 13-8-0 with a 1.88 GAA, a .934 SV% and four shutouts in 21 regular season games with the Houston Aeros (AHL) and 1-1 in two playoff starts stopping 67-of-70 shots faced for a 1.51 GAA, a .957 SV% and one shutout.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound native of Saskatoon, Sask., was the Wild's sixth-round selection (No. 161 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Iowa will play two games this upcoming weekend in Charlotte, starting on Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT) and concluding on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (CT). The Wild will return home on Thursday, Oct. 24 to host the Chicago Wolves at 7:05 p.m. The game marks the beginning of a five-game home stand for the Wild who will also host the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 5:05 p.m. The game will feature the Subway Family Four Pack, with four tickets, four hot dogs, four hats, four sodas and four popcorns, starting at $44. The game on Oct. 27 will also feature a Halloween Costume Party for fans and a postgame skate.
