ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC has acquired $450,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money and $300,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money from Philadelphia Union, it was announced today. In exchange, City has traded midfielder Andrés Perea. The Lions will receive an additional $100,000 in GAM if certain contract conditions are met, and will also retain a portion of Perea's future transfer fee should the midfielder be dealt.
"Andrés has been a vital piece for us these past three seasons and played an important role in winning our first trophy this past year," said EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. "We want to thank him for his contributions to the Club's achievements and wish him the best moving forward."
Perea joined the Lions on loan from Colombian side Atlético Nacional ahead of the 2020 Major League Soccer season before the Club exercised its option to buy following the campaign. The 21-year-old midfielder appeared 86 times in that span, 37 of which were starts, providing three assists and scoring four goals for City across all competitions, including the game-winner against the Philadelphia Union in the Lions' Round of 32 victory in Open Cup play, pursuing its first title in Club history this past year in the MLS era.
