Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire will take part in several community initiatives this holiday season alongside local partner organization, My Block My Hood My City, and Fire Supporter's Group, Sector Latino, to help decorate local neighborhoods and collect gifts for Chicago Children's Advocacy Center and Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council to be donated to children in the Chicago area.
Fire staff will join with My Block My Hood My City for their fifth annual Be Part of the Light community decorating event to help hang holiday lights and décor throughout neighborhoods in Chicago's South Side. This year, Club volunteers will visit Dunbar Vocational Academy on Wednesday, December 7 to help decorate the school with ribbons and lights in support of the event's mission to inspire hope for the youth and bring communities together along S. Martin Luther King Dr.
The public is invited to join an additional Be Part of the Light decorating event on Saturday, December 10th. Volunteers are invited to help decorate homes along King Dr., while enjoying hot treats, holiday music, live performances, and a tree lighting ceremony. More information on how to volunteer or additional ways to support can be found here.
The Fire will also support Sector Latino's annual winter Toy Drive event, as the Supporter's Group collects donated holiday gifts for Chicago Children's Advocacy Center and Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council. Sector Latino will host two concert events (information below) featuring local bands, Fire merch and game ticket raffles. Entry to the events is one unopened toy of at least $15 per person (no guns or stuffed animals accepted). Individuals age 21 or older will be eligible to attend the concert events.
Friday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Life of Marz (1950 N Western Ave. Chicago, IL 60647)
Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Magoo's Bar (6550 S Menard Ave. Bedford Park, IL 60638)
Fans unable to attend the events can still contribute to the Toy Drive by bringing unwrapped, donated gifts to the drop box located at the Fire Pitch (3626 N Talman Ave. Chicago, IL 60618).
