Opening Weekend Presented by Genesis Begins Friday

Moline, IL-Opening Weekend 2006 presented by Genesis begins Friday night at The MARK. The Mallards are home for the first time this season on Friday night vs. Fort Wayne. Opening Weekend 2006 continues on Saturday as the Rockford IceHogs visit The MARK. Game time is 7:00 p.m. on both nights.

Fans can purchase two tickets for Opening Weekend for just $20 courtesy of Genesis. On Friday, the first 4,000 fans will receive magnet schedules from Eagle's Crest Apartments. The first 1,000 fans on Saturday night will receive Mallards Flame Hats from Dick-n-Sons Lumber.

Last week, the Mallards went 1-1-0 with a win at Bloomington and a road loss in Port Huron. On Thursday in Bloomington, the Mallards scored twice in the final six minutes to earn a 3-2 win in the first ever meeting between the two franchises. On Saturday night, two late Flags goals resulted in a 4-2 Mallards loss.

The Mallards open their home schedule with a pair of contests vs. Western Division foes. Game time is 7:00 p.m. on both nights. For just $20, fans can purchase tickets to both games at The MARK box office. On Friday, the 2006-07 Mallards will skate on home ice for the first time following a pre-game laser and pyrotechnic display. On Friday, the first 4,000 fans at The MARK will receive 2006-07 Mallards Magnet Schedules from Eagle's Crest Apartments. The first 1,000 fans in attendance on Saturday night will receive a Mallards Flame Hat courtesy of Dick-n-Sons Lumber of Blue Grass, Iowa.

The Mallards open their home schedule on Friday vs. Fort Wayne. Quad City will be looking to avenge an 8-3 loss to the Komets on Opening Night in Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne went 6-12 on the power-play to earn the victory.

Saturday, November 4th vs. Rockford 7:00 p.m. at The MARK

The premier rivalry in the UHL comes to The MARK for the first time in 2006-07 on Saturday night. The Hogs beat the Mallards 6-1 in the teams' previous meeting this season.

Mallards in the Community

Mo Mallards will be appearing throughout the community in October to let fans know about the start of the 2006-07 home schedule.

-The Mallards will be at Fillmore School in Davenport on Thursday from 12:45 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Duck Talk is on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230 tonight at 6:00 p.m. from the Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge. This week, forward Matt Radoslovich and defensemen Bryce Charpentier and Marcus Reszka join host Aaron Roof and Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran.

Thursday, October 26th - Mallards 3 at Bloomington 2

A third period comeback sparked the Mallards first win of the year on Thursday night in Bloomington. Chad Woollard and Glenn Detulleo netted goals in the final 5:29 of the third to earn a 3-2 win over the Prairie Thunder. Ray Smegal scored his first pro goal in the win and Jason Tapp stopped 23 shots. In the opening period, the Mallards outshot Bloomington 11-9, but the Prairie Thunder took a 1-0 edge on the period's only goal as Jason Lawmaster scored for the second time this year. In the middle frame, the Prairie Thunder opened up a 2-0 edge on an unassisted goal by Brock Becker. Ray Smegal netted his first professional goal just two and a half minutes after Becker's tally to cut the Bloomington lead to one. In the third, linemates Woollard and Detulleo hooked up to jump start the Mallards comeback. Woollard netted his first goal of 2006-07 with 5:29 left in the game on a feed from Detulleo. Just over two minutes later, Detulleo netted his second goal of the season after shoveling a rebound past Bloomington's Steffan Braunlich.

Saturday, October 28th - Mallards 2 at Port Huron 4

The Mallards wrapped up a season opening five game road trip with a 4-2 loss in Port Huron on Saturday night. In the first period, the teams exchanged goals as Greg Bullock netted an even strength goal for Port Huron and Chad Woollard answered for the Mallards during a 5-on-3 power-play. Bullock hooked up with Chris Pittman on a give and go before sending a shot from the slot into the Quad City net. Just 1:26 later, Woollard converted on a feed from Glenn Detulleo on a power-play to tie the game at one. Port Huron's Robert Snowball netted the only goal of the second period. The Flag forward took a blueline-to-blueline pass from Trevor Edwards and raced in alone on a breakaway and beat Mallards netminder Jason Tapp to give Port Huron a 2-1 lead. In the third period, Radoslovich scored on a goal-mouth scramble to tie the game at two. Woollard and Glenn Detulleo assisted on Radoslovich's marker. Following the second-year Mallards' game-tying goal, the Flags netted two unanswered to secure the win. Ryan Markham scored on a shorthanded breakaway to give the Flags a 3-2 lead. Snowball added an insurance goal by converting on a 3-on-1 break to give Port Huron a 4-2 edge.

Player of the Week

Chad Woollard is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. He scored a goal and added an assist on Thursday in the Mallards 3-2 win over Bloomington. On Saturday, he had a goal and an assist in the Mallards' loss at Port Huron.

Goalie of the Week

Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He earned his first win by making 23 saves on Thursday in Bloomington. On Saturday, he stopped 33 shots in Port Huron.
