LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO --- After starting the season 0-2-0, the Elmira Jackals have won their last five contests in the United Hockey League (UHL). The Jackals scored just one goal total in their two losses to open the season, but have found their scoring touch to secure five straight victories, including two shootout wins.
Right wing Yevgeny Lazarev (5g, 4a) and left wing Scott Wray (4g, 5a) have paced the team with nine points each during the streak. Lazarev netted a "hat trick" (3g) which included two shorthanded goals in the 8-5 win vs. Flint on Friday. Wray tallied four points (2g, 2a) in Friday's victory. Defenseman Dale Lupul has been an offensive spark from the blueline as he has registered eight points (3g, 5a) during the winning streak.
The goaltending tandem of Kris Tebbs and Shawn Degagne has played a major role in Elmira's recent success. Tebbs has not allowed more than two goals in his three wins during the streak and has stopped all seven attempts he has faced in the two shootout wins for the Jackals.
