Rockford splits pair during week three

With a 3-2 win over the Chicago Hounds on Saturday, the Rockford IceHogs split its two-game week during Week 3 of the United Hockey League regular season. Rockford's record sits at 3-3-0 after its first six contests and this week the IceHogs begin a four-game road swing beginning in Bloomington on Friday and continuing in Quad City against the Mallards on Saturday.

Bacon Bits:

Rockford has outshot its opponents in all six games so far this season.

The IceHogs lead the UHL with 41.83 shots per game and have outshot its opponents by 80, the largest shot differential in the league.

Rockford set a club (average) attendance record for the month of October. The IceHogs averaged 4,403 fans during its four October games, beating the average from the 2003-04 campaign (4,129).

Winger Jesse Bennefield has a point or more in five of the IceHogs first six games. Bennefield leads Rockford in scoring with 3g-5a-8pts.

Winger Robin Big Snake has been whistled for at least one penalty in all six of Rockford's games thus far. Big Snake currently leads the UHL with four fighting majors.

The Hogs will play its next four games on the road.

Rockford has committed the second fewest minor penalties in the UHL, getting called for only 48 through six games.

The Hogs have allowed only two power-play goals on 21 (90.5%) penalty kills at home, tops in the UHL. But the club has allowed seven goals on 17 (58.8%) short-handed situations on the road, last in the UHL.

Hot Hog Week 3:

Rookie winger Kaleb Betts notched his first two career goals on Friday night against Fort Wayne. After missing the Hogs first two games due to injury, Betts has made an impact in the lineup for Rockford.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, Nov. 3 at Bloomington PrairieThunder. The battle starts at 7:05 p.m. Rockford returns to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum to butt heads with the PrairieThunder. It's the second meeting of the campaign between the new Western Conference rivals.

Saturday, Nov, 4 at Quad City Mallards. Game time is 7 p.m. The IceHogs visit the archrivals at The MARK of the Quad Cities for the first time this season. Rockford took the first meeting this season at the MetroCentre and the Hogs will look to continue its mastery over the Mallards under bench boss Steve Martinson.
