The Week That Was... The Ontario Reign kicked off the 2016-17 season with a 2-0 victory over the San Diego Gulls Saturday night at Valley View Casino Center. Forward Michael Mersch and T.J. Hensick netted power-play goals in the second period and goaltender Jack Campbell registered 36 saves, including at 17-save barrage in the third period, for his first shutout of the season.

Campbell Blanks Gulls to start 2016-17 Season San Diego, CA - For the second straight season, the Ontario Reign (1-0-0-0) opened a new campaign with a shutout victory as goaltender Jack Campbell provided 36 saves in a 2-0 victory over the San Diego Gulls (1-1-0-0) tonight at Valley View Casino Center. The Reign defeated the Bakersfield Condors 5-0 to start last season.
