Manitoba Moose News Release

CAPTAIN CORMIER: Prior to their opening game on Friday, the Moose announced Patrice Cormier as the team's captain. A veteran presence on the Moose, Cormier joined the organization in 2010 as part of the trade sending Ilya Kovalchuk to New Jersey. Since then, the Moncton, NB native has played over 300 professional games including 264 for the Moose and St. John's Ice Caps.

HOWDEN WITH THE HOT STICK: Quinton Howden's three goals over the weekend have him tied for the AHL lead heading into the week. Opening weekend gave Howden a strong start in chasing down his career high of 13 goals in 57 games coming in 2012-13.

STRONG DEBUTS: It didn't take long for first year pros Jack Roslovic and Nelson Nogier to make their first marks on the scoresheet. Nogier scored the first Moose goal of the season in Friday's opener. He also finished the game a +2 plus/minus rating. Roslovic followed that up with an assist on Howden's eventual winner. He then notched his first goal, a powerplay tally, giving the Moose a two goal lead.

CONGRATS, COACH: With the win on Friday, Pascal Vincent chalked up his first win as a head coach in the AHL. The new Moose bench boss is no stranger to winning, he guided 429 victories during his time in the QMJHL. Assistant coach Eric Dubois checked off his first game as a professional coach as well.

EARNING A SPOT: Defenceman Jordan Hill accomplished his goal of cracking the Moose roster out of camp. The Sarnia, ON product signed a professional tryout agreement with the club earlier last week. Hill has 205 AHL games to his name with 33 (8G, 25A) over his career.
