*New head coach Dan Lambert earned his first AHL win after guiding the Amerks to a 5-4 season-opening victory over the Hershey Bears on Friday night. It was the sixth straight year Rochester opened on home ice as in what was the 451st all-time meeting between the AHL's two oldest teams. With the win, the Amerks improved to 37-18-6 all-time and have outscored their opponents 255-194 in Home Openers dating back to their inaugural season.
*Cole Schneider enters the week tied for third in the AHL in scoring after opening the campaign with a four-point (2+2) performance in the win over Hershey. The veteran forward is also tied for fifth in goals (2) and seventh in assists (2) while ranking eighth in shots (9).
*Opening Weekend was one of first for several Amerks players. Rochester native Matt Lane recorded his first pro point in his pro debut on Friday, fellow rookie forward Eric Cornel's first pro goal proved to be the game-winner over the Bears and Alexander Nylander was impressive in his AHL debut, posting three points in three games over the weekend. Buffalo's top pick in this year's NHL Draft, Nylander began the season with an assist Friday vs. Hershey before scoring his first pro goal and adding an assist in Sunday's rematch against Syracuse.
