10 QUESTIONS WITH ANDREW BEATTIE

Why baseball?

Baseball is probably the only other sport besides soccer that I could play at my height - I'm five foot nine and I didn't like running all over the field, so it was baseball.

What do you do during the off-season?

I teach hitting lessons at a hitting facility in Sarasota, Florida - I stay with my family there.

What famous person would you most like to meet?

Madonna

What has been your most memorable moment in baseball?

Playing for the Chattanooga Lookouts for three years - that's a moment in my life.

What was your most embarrassing moment in baseball?

Getting out by Scott Dunn the other night.

Do you have any lucky rituals?

No I don't - I believe in superstition, but I try not to get mixed up in that with baseball. There are some things, but I don't do anything the same every day.

How do you like Chattanooga?

I love Chattanooga. I like staying here, it's been a good place for a few years and I wouldn't mind coming back.

Who do you idolize, in sports and in life?

I idolize Mike Schmidt - he was my childhood hero, he could hit the ball over the fence and he could hit line drives in the gap and he could play a heck of a third base. In life, my parents.

Where will you be in 10 or 20 years?

Hopefully alive, on the beach sitting somewhere having a couple of drinks...somewhere in the Caribbean.

Is there anything you'd like to say to the fans?

I appreciate everybody coming out every night and I enjoy that the support's there. Thanks.
