Duluth Huskies News Release
LA CROSSE, Wisconsin - With the opportunity to eliminate the La Crosse Loggers Saturday night, the Duluth Huskies searched for its third straight win. The Huskies proved to be too much to handle for the Loggers, knocking off La Crosse, 4-0.
It was a tightly contested game early on as both pitchers provided quality opening innings. The scoring started in the top of the fourth as Peyton Powell sent his first home run of the season with Duluth. A two-run blast was a part of a three-run fourth frame for the visiting squad.
Duluth tacked on one more run an inning later on a bases-loaded double play. The Huskies provided quality defense all night long, insuring themselves to be in the driver's seat later on in the affair.
Jake Hamilton got the start for the Huskies and was dealing all night. The Oklahoma Baptist University product went six innings, not allowing a single run on two hits. He walked 3 men and sat down eight La Crosse players via the strikeout.
JD McReynolds and Jake Christianson appeared out of the bullpen for the Huskies and were lights out for their outings.
Hamilton (3-0) earned the win, and Drew Christo (0-3) was handed the loss in the contest.
The win moves the Huskies to 18-13 on the campaign. The setback puts the Loggers at an overall record of 15-17. Duluth now owns a 1.5-game lead in the division over the Eau Claire Express.
Duluth needs one win in its next two games to clinch a playoff berth in the Great Plains East. The Huskies battle the Waterloo Bucks Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:35 pm CT. You can listen to the game at www.mixlr.com/duluthhuskiesradio2022.
