
Omaha Defends Home Ice in 5-1 Victory over Lincoln

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Lincoln Stars by a final score of 5-1 on Saturday night at Ralston Arena.
The Lancers opened up the scoring on their first power play chance when Travis Mitchell (5:00) ripped the puck from the high slot past Mucitelli. The goal was Mitchell's first of the season. Later into the period, Kyle Kawamura (12:53) found the puck off of a quick pass from Tyler Carpenter to deflect it in the net. The Lancers kept a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Austen Long (6:26) sniped the puck on the right-side past Mucitelli earning his second goal of the season. Later into the period, Logan Will (17:50) added to the Lancers lead to get them ahead 4-0.
In the third period, the Stars answered back with a goal from Ross Mitton (13:46). The Lancers took down the Stars by a final score of 5-1 to win two in a row. Omaha is now 13-19-2-4 on the year with 32 points. Akira Schmid stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced in the Omaha win.
The Lancers return to the ice on Friday, February 8th to face off against the Sioux City Musketeers for Star Wars Night. Puck drop is at 7:35 pm.
