HEADLINES: RedHawks come back for win ... Dickey starts tonight ... Another close one with the Cubs
TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Iowa Cubs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. Last year, the Cubs were 64-75 and finished fourth in the PCL American Conference Northern Division.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their eight-game road trip against Iowa. This is their 96th game this season, 50th road game and seventh game against Iowa.
LAST GAME: The RedHawks overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat Iowa 5-4. Oklahoma scored four runs in the sixth inning, capped by a Jason Hart three-run homer, to take a 4-3 lead. Iowa tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, but the RedHawks scored what would be the winning run in the seventh on a sac fly by Adam Hyzdu.
VS. IOWA: The RedHawks are 47-53 all-time against Iowa since the two teams joined the PCL in 1998. The RedHawks are 23-27 against Iowa at Principal Park. Last year was the RedHawks first season series win over the Cubs since 2001 when they won five of eight against them.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey makes his 11th start of the season for the RedHawks and his first since June 28 vs. Round Rock. He has made two relief appearances since his last start. As a starter, he is 2-6 with a 6.71 ERA (39 ER/53.1 IP). He is 1-0-1 with a 1.93 ERA (3 ER/14 IP) in three relief outings. On the road, he is 0-5 with a 7.29 ERA (34 ER/42 IP) in eight games, seven starts. He is 3-1-1 with a 2.96 ERA (8 ER/24.1 IP) in five games, three starts at home. Randy Wells starts for Iowa.
BULLPEN: In the last eight games, the RedHawks bullpen has given up 10 runs, eight earned, over 37.2 innings (1.91 ERA). The bullpen has 35 strikeouts and eight walks in the last eight games.
ADAM HYZDU: Outfielder Adam Hyzdu has RBIs in five of his last seven games (nine RBIs). He already has 14 RBIs in 15 games in July. He had 10 RBIs in 14 games in April, 14 RBIs in 26 games in May and 18 RBIs in 27 games in June.
CLOSE GAMES: Thirty-eight of Oklahoma 's 46 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 22 one-run wins. Also, 38 of Oklahoma's 49 losses this season have come by four runs or less, including 15 by one run.
RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK July 22 and 29 and Aug. 26. They will be on KFXY 1640 AM Aug. 20 and Sept. 3.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: The RedHawks are 35-27 since Mike Boulanger took over as manager May 11 ... There has been a save in each of the six games this season between Oklahoma and Iowa ... The six games this year between Oklahoma and Iowa have been decided by a total of 10 runs.
