Oklahoma City's Alexandre Giroux Earns Regenâ⢠Performance of the Month Award
January 13, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Oklahoma City Barons left wing Alexandre Giroux, who recorded his 600th career AHL point in a game against San Antonio last month, has been named the winner of December's reGen ¢ Muscle Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award.
In the Barons' Dec. 18 contest vs. San Antonio at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Giroux earned a second-period assist to become the 44th player in AHL history to reach 600 career points. The Quebec City native and two-time Calder Cup champion currently shows 325 goals and 289 assists for 614 points in 676 regular-season AHL games over 10 seasons.
In recognition of his reGen ¢/AHL Performance of the Month award, Giroux will be honored at an upcoming Barons home game.
Giroux, 29, won the AHL's goal-scoring title and the Calder Cup each of the past two seasons with Hershey, including a career-best 103-point effort (50-53-103) for the Bears in 2009-10. A four-time AHL All-Star, Giroux leads all active players with his 325 career goals. Giroux, who will captain the Western Conference All-Stars in Hershey later this month, also ranks sixth on the AHL's all-time postseason scoring list with 100 points (50-50-100) in 112 career Calder Cup Playoff games.
reGen ¢ is the Official Muscle Recovery Beverage of the AHL.
