Oklahoma City Energy FC wins over Sacramento Republic FC

With numerous weather delays caused by lightning, Energy FC defeated Sacramento Republic FC 2-1 Saturday night at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. with goals by Sebastian Dalgaard and Danni König,

Sacramento (6-5-0, 18pts) was forced to play much of the game down to 10 men, as Rodrigo Lopez was sent off in the 11th minute after a play near the box.

Oklahoma City Energy FC (3-2-3, 12 pts) capitalized on its man-advantage in the 20th minute as Sebastian Dalgaard gave Energy FC a 1-0 lead. Dalgaard fielded a cross in front of the goal by Casey Townsend and knocked it past Sacramento keeper Patrick McLain, for his second goal of the season. Danni König added a second OKC goal in the 35th minute, giving Energy FC a 2-0 lead at the half.

Sacramento battled back in the second half despite being down to 10 men, and in the 61st minute Adnan Gabeljic cut the deficit in half. In heavy rain, both sides pushed forward in the final half-hour, but Energy FC held on for its third win of the season in the USL, and moved within a point of the top six positions in the Western Conference standings.

Republic FC returns to Bonney Field when they take on Chula Vista FC in their second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match on Wednesday, May 27. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The match is included in season ticket packages. Single match tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
