Oklahoma City Blue Protest Denied
March 7, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Austin Spurs News Release
NEW YORK - The NBA Development League has denied a game protest filed by the Oklahoma City Blue in connection with its 96-94 double overtime loss to the Austin Spurs on February 20.
The Blue argued that the referees should have awarded two free throws following a Spurs' foul with 59.2 seconds remaining in the first overtime period -- rather than the ball out on the side. Although the league determined that the referees did in fact misapply the rules, it found that this error did not have a clear impact on the outcome of the game, which the Blue had a number of opportunities to win. Oklahoma City's protest was therefore denied.
